Disaster assistance is what Grace Unlimited "does" at several levels. A primary purpose of any religion is to develop awareness of the goodness of God behind all of life and spiritual resiliency for those times "when things go wrong".

In natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, floods and other "acts of God" (what an unfortunate term) we see God in the response of strangers uniting in efforts to provide relief to people they previously didn't even notice or value. Such expression of love is the presence of God.

In human-caused intentional disasters we see the "shadow" or dark side of humanity, which we call evil, expressed in brutal force. The greater the evil the greater is the response of our light side, our inner spirit (God within us) to help in some way, to express care and provide comfort. This is a true expression of love. It is within the worst of disasters that the presence of God can become most visible. My power works best in your weakness.(Second Corinthians 12:9)

The healthy response to life's disasters is awareness of the healing presence of God and God's people expressed through the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance motto, Out of Chaos, Hope.
